The Venomous Abyss Raid Overview
The Venomous Abyss is the flagship raid of World of Warcraft: Midnight Season 2, introduced with Patch 12.1. Hidden beneath the Coiled Isle, this ancient Amani temple has been consumed by venom and corruption after the awakening of the serpent deity Ula’tek. As players descend deeper into the ruins, they’ll face increasingly dangerous enemies, culminating in an epic battle against the source of the spreading corruption.
Featuring eight unique boss encounters, The Venomous Abyss is the primary PvE endgame activity of Season 2 and offers some of the most rewarding challenges in the expansion. The raid combines single-target and multi-target encounters, requiring strong coordination, efficient add control, and careful execution of mechanics.

Season 2 Tier Set
The Venomous Abyss is also one of the primary sources of the Midnight Season 2 Tier Set. Five of the eight bosses currently drop Tier Set tokens for different armor slots, giving players an important reason to clear the raid every week.
Collecting Tier Set pieces can significantly improve a character’s performance, especially for players preparing for high-end Mythic+, Heroic raiding, or Mythic progression. Because Tier Set pieces are tied to specific boss drops, players may need to target particular encounters depending on which pieces they are missing.
Raid Progression and Weekly Rewards
The Venomous Abyss is an important part of the overall Season 2 gearing process. Players can use raid bosses to obtain direct gear upgrades while also progressing toward their Great Vault rewards.
Running the raid consistently each week can help players build their characters faster, complete their Tier Set, and improve their overall item level. Mythic raiders can also use the raid as part of their weekly progression toward the highest-end rewards and achievements.
Achievements and Special Rewards
In addition to equipment, The Venomous Abyss offers several prestigious rewards for players who complete the raid at higher difficulties. Players who defeat Ula’tek on Heroic can work toward Ahead of the Curve, while defeating the final boss on Mythic difficulty is required for Cutting Edge.
The raid also includes additional collectible rewards, including player housing decorations and other seasonal rewards, giving collectors another reason to explore the instance beyond its gear progression.
